In the 14th and 15th centuries it experienced its heyday, being enriched with medieval monuments that still characterize the town today.<\/p>\n<h3>What to see<\/h3>\n<p>The Roman Theatre outside the city walls. A series of architectural masterpieces, bear witness of the importance of Gubbio as a city-state: the Palazzo dei Consoli, the Palazzo Pretorio, the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo and the Palazzo del Bargello. The Palazzo Ducale in Renaissance style witnessing the Lordship of Federico da Montefeltro. The Cathedral, Santa Maria Nuova, the Piazza of 40 martyrs, and outside the walls the interesting \u201cChiesa della Vittorina\u201d, where tradition has it that St. Francis met the wolf, an episode also narrated in the &#8220;Fioretti&#8221; by St. Francis.<\/p>\n<\/div><div
